Brist is located on the far south of the Makarska riviera, 8 kilometers away from Ploce. This magnificent place is mentioned even in 1571, but it is presumed that it is even older, as there are numerous archeological finding sites. There are about 400 inhabitants living in brist today, and the live mainly from tourism, growing olives and fishing. Above Brist there are the ruins of the church St Marguerite, dating from 15th century. The church of St Mara was built in 1870, and next to it a monument to the great Croatian poet Andrija Kacic Miosic, who was born in Brist, was built. Besides its historical values, Brist is also adorned by its natural values and beaty. Magnificent beaches, pure sea, untouched nature and the smell of pines. You can find accomodation in one of the private apartments, rooms and villas. There are also sport courts for those who'd like to recreate themselves. We recommend you to visit other places on the Riviera of Makarska – Makarska, Bratus, Baska Voda, Brela, Drasnice, Drvenik, Gradac, Igrane, Podaca, Podgora, Tucepi, Zaostrog and Zivogosce .
